I enjoy commissions as they often take me into new areas of exploration, including upside-down tea cups as light fittings for a new café, mugs and bowls in local red clay as a gift for a customer leaving the area, a copy of a favourite mug that was chipped and broken, ceramic lamp bases for new lampshades based on watercolour paintings, a sign for a school incorporating children’s’ drawings, mug with matching coffee filters and plates, white bowls for customer’s own drawings and mugs incorporating organisations logos. A current commission is for a company importing coffee from Vietnam.
How To Commission
If you have project in mind email me with sketches or your thoughts and give me a phone number so we can talk and discuss your ideas. Then taking what we have discussed I would make a test piece, or a few options for you and then discuss shape, size, glaze etc. Once you have decided on all the important issues I would write a contract for the time scale and the costs. The customer then pays half the total cost and the rest on completion and delivery of the finished work. I love taking on new ceramic challenges and projects, both with community groups and individuals, so give it a go!
